Making a brush on mold with the MB Trans 13 Addition serie with MB plathix thickener:

Step 1:
Take care that the models that you intend to copy are warmed up to room temperature, and put the other materials you need ready to use. ( brushes, spatula’s, mix cups, gloves and scale ect…) Also take care that your model is clean and grease free because of the problem of inhibition (The surface in contact with the pattern remains gummy/sticky or uncured)

Step 2:
With silicone you don’t have to prepare your models with a release agent, although if you have a poreus model it can be necessary to use a sealer (MB poriesealer), Let the sealer cure before you’ll go to the next step

Step 3:
You can now start beginning to brush-on your first layer of silicone; you weight the mix ratio of the silicone carefully on your scale and stir these components very good in the cup (don’t forget the edges and the bottom of the cup while mixing). When you have established a good homogeny mass with a translucent color, then add on some drops MB plathix thickener to get the wanted thickness, again stir the MB Pathix in to the silicone and see that while you stir the silicone thickens up. The thirst layer has to be as thin as possible to not trap any air bubbles in your mold. Let this layer cure for 90 minutes.

Step 4:
You can now repeat step 3 for the next layer. You only bring him a little thicker than the first one. You can repeat step 3 till you have the precise thickness you want your mold to be. Let him cure within the curing time and than proceed with step 5.

Step 5:
If you make a brush-on mold you always have to make a shell behind the silicone mold, you can use Gypsums to make a hard support shell.

Making a Block mold with the MB Trans 13 Addition:

Stap 2:
With silicone you don’t have to prepare your models with a release agent, although if you have a porous model it can be necessary to use a sealer (MB poriesealer), Let the sealer cure before you’ll go to the next step

Stap 3:
Make a Mold box where you put in the model and pour in the rubber, Use plastic faced particle board so that you don’t have to prepare the mold box with a sealer or anything. Take the model and put it in, let it stick to the bottom of the box.

Stap 4:
Weight the components of the MB Trans 13 exactly on your scale and stir these components very good till you have a homogeny mass (don’t forget the edges and the bottom of the cup while mixing). When you have mixed the product you can pour it into the mold box. NOTE: Don’t us the last left over of you mixed rubber in the cup, because most of the time the rubber is not properly mixed and causes problems with curing. Pour the rubber slowly into the corner of the box. Let the rubber cure and you have a beautiful block mold.
